Saskatchewan drivers may soon have to let go of their hand-held cellphones and put both hands back on the steering wheel.

Premier Brad Wall says the province will introduce legislation this fall that would ban the use of hand-held electronic devices to text or talk while operating a vehicle.

Wall says there's irrefutable evidence that people are more likely to be in an accident while texting.

The premier says Saskatchewan is looking at what other provinces have done.

Newfoundland and Labrador, Quebec and Nova Scotia already have bans in place and Ontario's ban takes effect in October.

Wall says the province will not go so far as to ban hands-free devices while driving.
