The man who doused himself with gasoline and tried to light himself on fire at an SGI office in Saskatoon is facing charges.
Forty-one year old Youssef Hajizedeh was charged with attempted arson and threatening to cause arson in provincial court.
Witnesses at the scene said that Mr. Hajizedeh poured gas from a large, red gas can onto his head while waiting in line at an SGI counter. He tried, unsuccessfully, to light a lighter. Another man in the building hit the man’s arm, forcing him to drop the lighter.
Customers were evacuated but no one was injured.
