Dean Connor, currently president of subsidiary Sun Life Financial Canada, will become chief operating officer of the parent company, which is Canada's third-largest life insurance company.
Responsibility for the company's operations in Asia and United Kingdom have been added to the current duties of Sun Life president Jon Boscia.
Both Boscia and Connor will report to chief executive Donald Stewart.
Boscia, who joined Sun Life in 2008, will retain responsibility for marketing and for management of the company's invested assets. He will also retain oversight for SLF U.S. and SLF Bermuda.
Connor, who joined the company in 2006, will retain oversight of Sun Life Canada, which will have a new president, and the reinsurance division. As chief operating officer, Connor also assumes responsibility for MFS Investment Management, enterprise services, and human resources.
Kevin Dougherty become president of SLF Canada, reporting to Connor, and Westley Thomson, president of Sun Life Financial U.S., will report to Boscia.
