Canadians are not saving enough for their retirements, experts say. Some numbers on pensions, compiled by the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board:

5.9 million - The number of Canadian workers that participate in an employer pension plan.

63 per cent - The proportion of working Canadians with no registered pension plan coverage.

30 per cent - The proportion of Canadian families with no retirement savings.

7 per cent - The percentage decrease of private-sector pension coverage in Ontario between 1985 and 2005, while during this same period, the labour force grew substantially.

30 per cent - The percentage of Canadian employees that were covered by a defined-benefit pension plan in 2006, compared to 41 per cent in 1991.

61 per cent - The proportion of Canadians concerned about their financial health as they approach retirement.
