Since it was launched in October 2009, word of the Aviva Community Fund has spread across the country. The competition seeks to lead, empower and support positive change in communities, by getting Canadians to submit and vote for things that they would like to change at a local or national level. The winner, judged by an impartial panel, will receive $500,000 towards making the idea come to life.

Over 2,000 ideas were submitted and Aviva said the top 25 ideas have now been selected and will move on to the judging phase of the competition.
