As part of Saskatchewan’s Go Green plan, SGI insureds can receive a 20 percent rebate of basic insurance premiums and registration fees for hybrid or fuel efficient vehicles they own and insure.

Though SGI is administering the rebate, this year it is funded entirely by the provincial government’s General Revenue Fund, not the compulsory insurance program.

The rebate is part of the provincial government’s “Go Green” plan, designed to encourage Saskatchewan residents to be more environmentally friendly at home, work and on the road.

SGI says that almost 7500 customers will receive rebates this year, averaging about $175 each. Last year the agency said that nearly 3500 people received rebates.
