Another group is adding its voice to the protest over an Alberta government proposal that would allow for more sharing of patient health records.

The Consumers' Association of Alberta says so far, the province has released few specifics about the proposed changes.

It's calling on Premier Ed Stelmach and a health committee to be specific about who will have access to those electronic health records.

Larry Phillips, president of the group, says the province is putting the cart before the horse by asking for feedback on amendments to the Health Information Act, without providing details about those proposed changes.

The group says the provincial government wants to change the rules to allow the sharing of information from office visits and private conversations with doctors and other health professionals.

Earlier this year, officials with the Alberta Medical Association voiced concerns about proposed changes to the legislation, saying they threaten the privacy of Albertans.
