A 17-year-old girl has been charged with deliberately setting a fire that gutted the only grocery store in a remote northern Manitoba community.
RCMP say the teen has been released with conditions and is to appear in Grand Rapids court July 29 to face an arson charge.
Her name will not be released because of her age.
Flames quickly ripped through the Co-op in Grand Rapids on May 12 and destroyed the store.
Damage is estimated at more than $1 million.
Residents now face more than a two-hour drive to buy groceries and supplies in The Pas.
