The Institute of Catastrophic Loss Reduction – or ICLR – has been accepted as an advisory institution in the United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative as part of the academic working group.

The Finance Initiative is part of a global partnership between the United Nations Environment Programme and the finance sector. The group works with over 170 financial institutions and other partner organizations to develop and promote linkages between the environment, sustainability and financial performance.

The Institute of Catastrophic Loss Reduction was established in 1998 by Canada’s property and casualty insurers. It is an independent, not-for-profit research based in Toronto and at the University of Western Ontario in London. The Institute deals primarily with disaster loss prevention research and education.
