March 8 marked the 98th anniversary of the International Women’s Day. Originally started in 1910 with the proposition that one day every year should be a celebration of and for women, to recognize the impact women have on their communities and to continue to press for women’s rights.

International Women’s Day is now an official holiday in China, Armenia, Russia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Macedonia, Moldova, Mongolia, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan and Vietnam.

This year’s theme in Canada was: Strong Leadership. Strong Women. Strong World: Equality.
